Review #1 Endo's video for "Suffer", directed by Ted Lederman When the video first started playing, I thought to myself "ok, another video where it's just the band playing." But there's SO much more to it! The colors used in it, are amazing. They keep your attention focused the whole time. It's got bright blue, red, orange, grey, black, white, yellowish/green...and it goes back and forth between them in the perfect way. Your eyes are so focused on the colors, you think it's you that's making it all blurry and wavey..but it's not! That's just another great touch added in. And just when you think you will see nothing more than "just the band playing" it cuts into one of the freakiest things I've seen in a video, since NIN's "Closer". I mean, it's not like 'blow away you're mind' freaky, but it will leave you thinking "what the fuck?! That's crazy looking!" I wont get into detail about it. You'll just have to see it for yourself. ~Paris~ ****~ Go here to watch Endo's "Suffer" video: http://www.endomusic.com/Video/SufferVidFull.ram Review #2 System Of A Down's "Prison Song" If you're one of the lucky StreetWiser's, you've gotten the demo and heard it for yourself already. If not, and you haven't heard it yet, you are MISSING OUT! Being that it's a System Of A Down song, that says it right there that it's good. It's got the hard/fast/bouncy beats, and Serj's hard/melodic/UNIQUE vocals flowing through the song and the occasional vocals of Daron popping in. And you can't forget the low roar that is a SOAD trademark. There's DEFINATELY a message to it. The prison system, and some of the major flaws in it. My favorite part, though, is the "Oh I buy my crack and I smack my bitch right here in Hollywood!" part. It adds a little mix to the seriousness of the lyrics. I highly suggest you check this song out, if you can! The album is due out in August, and I also highly suggest you check that out when it hits stores! This is probably one of the best new songs I've heard in a while, from any artist. ~Paris~ ***** Review #3 Alien Ant Farm's "Smooth Criminal" video All I can really say about this, is that it is has got to be one of the funniest videos I have seen on TV these days. I couldn't stop laughing through it. I especially like the chimp! LOL Not much to really say on this, except for the band does an excellent cover of the song on the album AND live, and the video just adds the cherry on top. Would have liked to have seen Daniel in there, though;) ~Paris~ ****~ Review #4 Alone's "dagger" from www.mp3.com/alonemusic and "Mistaken" on www.alonemusic.com I'm usually not into rock bands with female vocals, but I'm always open to checking them out. Suggested by Randall Maggard, I went to www.alonemusic.com Their song "Mistaken" automatically plays when you get to the site. It's not that bad. Her vocals sound a bit too high pitched for the music played by the band. It kind of sounds alternative, while the band sounds more rock. The same goes for the song Dagger. Maybe that's the style they're going for though. They seem to have a good amount of talent, but I just can't see myself really getting into them. They've got a pretty cool website though:) ~Paris~ *** (depending on what you're in to) Review #5 Pressure 4-5's "Beat The World" and "Peices" (from Sampler) "Beat The World" starts off really cool. Guitar beats go back and forth(I've always loved that..hehe), and while still bouncing around, the drum beats in, and forms a really good intro. The lead singers vocals have a melodic style as he begins the song. His voice reminds me of some other singer's...I just can't think of who. During the chorus, he does a little screaming, giving it a good mixture. The band keeps up, giving a good sound to back up the tone changes in vocals. I really like this song a lot. It's one of those ones you can just bob your head to. :) "Peices" starts off with a slower guitar peice, then the rest of the band comes in and it gets heavier. God..I can't think of who the singer's voice reminds me of. You guys know? This song has a slower beat than the first one, but it's similar with the fact that it's got the melodic mixed with rock sound to it. I can't really decide which song I like better though. They're both really good. I'll be seeing these guys later in the week, and I'm really stoked. I've been streetteaming for them for some time now(Before they even joined StreetWise), and this will be my first time seeing them. I'm sure they'll be really awesome live. ~Paris~ ****~ Review #6 Lifeduzt's "Gaming" and "Youareme" and "First Mistake", from www.mp3.com/lifeduzt These guys were also suggested by Randall. The first song, "Gaming"..Well...I don't know if it's just how the quality is on the recording, or maybe it's supposed to sound this way...but it's pretty harsh. No offense Randall..hehe.. I can barely understand the guy, and it kind of has a piercing sound to it. He does a little singing, but it's really not that great. It continues with the heavy stuff....but I just have to stop it now. I really don't like it. I'll try the next one though. "Youareme"...starts off nicer:) Bass guitar strumming, then guitar strums along...vocals are kinda softly in the background to start things off. Goes into the guitar again, and a couple drum hits...and then the vocals ascend in....oh wow...ok...He gets louder with the vocals, but the guitar sounds acoustic, and it just doesn't mix right...I don't think this was a full song though, so I'll try another.. "First Mistake"...starts off with some scratching...ok...umm....listening to this....as mean as this sounds...I know why they called it "First Mistake"...haha Sorry..I really did give them a chance.. ~Paris~ *
